Ranitidine
Indications:
Ranitidine is used to treat ulcers and promote healing of stomach. This drug is effective in preventing recurrence of ulcers when used in low doses for a long period of time. Ranitidine is also used in treating heartburn and inflammation of the esophagus when given in large doses. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How to take:
Ranitidine comes in a tablet form taken by mouth. Usually it is twice a day however dosage depends on doctor′s prescription. Ranitidine is an over the counter drug used to prevent symptoms of heartburn. It is taken 30-60 minutes before eating. Take the drug as directed by the physician. Do not take more than 2 doses at once. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Do not take more RANITIDINE than it is indicated at the label without consulting your doctor.
Precautions:
Before beginning Ranitidine therapy, inform the doctor of any allergies to Ranitidine or other medications. Be sure to mention all medications taken including anti coagulants and herbal products. The doctor may need to change the dosage or monitor side effects of the drug. This drug is taken by mouth with or without food. Since safety of Ranitidine has not been proven it is not recommended in children. Also limit alcohol intake because this drug interferes with alcohol metabolism thereby elevating blood alcohol levels.
