Guaifenesin cap.
Indications:
Guaifenesin acts by thinning the mucus when it passes in the airways to make coughing easier. It also clears the airway making it easier to breathe. It can also treat other diseases such as bronchitis and other lung infections. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How to take:
Guaifenesin is taken as directed by the doctor. It comes in capsule form to be taken by mouth with or without food. While taking this drug it is advisable to drink plenty of fluids so as to loosen as much mucus secretion as possible. If a dose is missed, take one as soon as possible. Precautions:
Inform doctor of any allergies to guaifenesin or any other drugs before taking guaifenesin. Also inform the doctor of any medication taken especially prescription and non-prescription drugs, herbal and dietary supplements. Some medicines interfere with this drug hence making it less effective. Doctor should also be informed of the patients medical condition especially glaucoma, prostate problems, heart problems, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, thryroid and adrenal problems. Guaifenesin is used with caution in children below 6 years old, in elderly, and in pregnant and lactating women.
