Erythromycin
Indications:
Erythromycin is use to treat infections caused by certain bacteria. It is also used before surgery to prevent infection. It may also be used to prevent bacterial endocarditis and rheumatic fever. This medication may be prescribed for other uses, ask the doctor for more information.
How to take:
Take erythromycin as directed by the physician. It is taken by mouth with or without food however to prevent stomach irritation take with food. Do not break, crush or chew tablet before swallowing. Erythromycin should be taken as whole. Grapefruit or grapefruit juice should be avoided while using Erythromycin. It works best if the medication is taken at the same time each day. If a dose is missed, take one as soon as possible. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Do not take more Erythromycin than is indicated at the label without consulting a doctor. Continue to take this antibiotic even if you feel well, do not stop taking without talking to the doctor.
Precautions:
Before taking Erythromycin, inform the doctor of any allergies to norfloxacin and other antibiotics as well as other medications. Also inform the doctor of the medicines currently taken such as other antibiotics, anticoagulants, cyclosporine, theophylline and vitamins. It is not advisable to give erythromycin to pregnant women as it can harm the fetus.
