Brand Lasix (Sanofi Aventis, Furosemide)
Indications:
Lasix is indicated to treat edema, mild to moderate hypertension, congestive heart failure, and chronic renal failure. Lasix may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
How to take:
Before starting Lasix therapy, discuss patient condition with a healthcare provide. Therapy should be individualized according to patient response to gain maximal therapeutic response and to determine the minimal dose needed to maintain that response. Adult dose is initially 1-2 tabs until satisfactory diuresis is obtained.
Precautions:
Lasix is should not be used if patient is unable to urinate. Effect of Lasix is diuresis therefore to prevent dehydration, increase potassium supplements or get salt and potassium in the diet. If Lasix is used to treat hypertension, keep using Lasix even if you feel fine. High blood pressure often has no symptoms.
