Indications:

Methylergometrine is used in the management and prevention of postpartum and postabortal hemorrhage by producing firm uterine contractions and decreasing uterine bleeding. It is also used in the second stage of labor following delivery of the anterior shoulder, but only under full obstetric observation.

Precautions:

Inform the doctor if patient have a history of: heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney problems, liver problems, blood vessel disease, circulation problems, allergies. This drug should not be used during pregnancy. Methylergometrine appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
