Indications:
Amlodipine is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
How to take:
Amlodipine is taken once daily with or without food. It must be swallowed whole and should not be crushed or chewed. In order for the drug to be effective use it regularly at the same time everyday. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Your chest pain may worsen if the drug is abruptly stopped. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased
Precautions:
Amlodipine is used with caution in patients with chronic heart failure and in those with impaired hepatic function or reduced hepatic blood flow. Safety and efficacy have not been determined in children. Limit intake of alcohol while taking this drug. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to its side effects.
